C150 – Day 9

I picked up this stripy jacket in the Next sale a few weeks ago and this was its first outing. It’s more of a glorified cardigan than a jacket, as it’s quite lightweight, so it was the perfect cover up for this warm but changeable weather.

The stripes are quite bold, so I’ve tried to keep it simple with a grey tee and navy chinos, but couldn’t resist adding a bit of sass with the neon necklace and leopard loafers! I’d better like this outfit, as I had my photo taken for my work security pass today, and the ugly magenta M&S jumper I wore in the last one has plagued me for 6 years!

Wednesday Want

I think a flat ankle boot is an autumn essential, and I have had my eye on this pair for a couple of years now…

Russell & Bromley Cadogan Boots – £195

I haven’t bought them because every time I think about it, something flashier catches my eye, and I spend my pennies on a lobster sweater or pink desert boots. However, now that I can’t buy them, I am realising what a brilliant basic these would be. As that notorious savant Joni Mitchell said, ‘you don’t know what you’ve got ’til it’s gone’. Ah well, maybe next year…

C150 – Day 8

One down, 20 and a bit to go. That’s right folks, I’ve made it a week without shopping. Apparently it takes 30 days to break a habit, so by the end of August, I should be a fully-paid up, pious frugalista. Lolz, as the kids would have it.

This Uniqlo top is turning out to be one of my best pre-ban panic buys. It is really easy to wear as it drapes beautifully and it feels super-soft. I didn’t want it quite as loose as the one on the model though, so I got an XS. Uniqlo is great for basics, I love the cashmere; it really is comparable with stuff costing triple, plus it survives a 30 degree silk wash without incident (absolutely crucial for survival in my wardrobe). You can usually bag the jumpers for around £59 when they go on special offer, which I think is great value, so keep an eye out for them dropping in store over the next few weeks.

C150 – Day 7

I should probably start by apologising for the Fitflops… But do you know what, I’m not gonna. I suffer from arthritis in my knees, and some days they can be very uncomfortable. Today I’m feeling creaky and a bit sore, so I’ve wheeled out my Fitflops, the only footwear which helps with the discomfort. No, they’re not chic or sexy, but neither is hobbling, and if Phoebe Philo can send furry pool slides down the runway at Celine, then I can wear these!

C150 – Day 6

The orange shoes get another outing, today with my favourite Paige Jimmy Jimmy boyfriend jeans. As you probably gathered from yesterday’s outfit, I love cobalt and orange together! Excuse the grease stain / have just taken my progeny to the cinema and for lunch!

Yesterday, before my haircut I had a browse in the shops. Before I started this challenge I would have considered a trip where I didn’t buy anything a waste of time, but it was actually quite liberating to look at things, try them on and then walk away. That’s not to say I wasn’t tempted mind; here are a few bits that took my fancy:
