Sale Preview with The Dressing Room

It’s that time of year, one of my favourite stores, The Dressing Room, is about to start their sale and I was lucky enough to get a sneak preview of some of the fabulous pieces to be reduced. I’ve done a few of these sale preview posts in the past but I can honestly say this was the most fun. The girls at the DR always send lovely items but the ones I received to style this time were just sublime. Honestly, any one of them would fit perfectly into my wardrobe. I’ve styled them with a party theme in mind as NYE is just around the corner and if you’re looking for a new outfit, now is the time to bag a bargain! The first item is this beautiful Day Birger Et Mikkelsen silk tee with lace insert detail. I cannot overstate just how lovely this top is in the flesh. It’s hard to see the detail on a black top but believe me, this is special. The perfect top for when you need something to wear with skinnies and heels while looking polished and chic.

And here I am in it. I paired it with sequinned leggings and black patent pumps for a rock chic feel. IMG_1090 The next item is this stunning jumper from Cocoa Cashmere. This beautiful lace print knit is so thick and soft, I didn’t want to take it off. I wear a lot of cashmere in the winter but always plain block colours so this felt really different and just a little bit special.

Here I’ve paired it with a tulle midi skirt and bright suede pumps. This is the kind of outfit I’d wear if I were hosting drinks at home, comfy and relaxed but still glamourous. I love the mix of textures in this outfit. IMG_1059 The last item I was sent is this stunning top from American Vintage. Made in a lovely heavy crepe fabric it just drapes so beautifully and the distinctive, go-with-anything print makes it a no brainer when getting dressed in a hurry. I was very kindly offered my favourite item to keep and this is the one I decided on. I can see myself getting so much wear out of it!

Tulsa Sleeveless Top in Pepper Grid - Was £74 Now £XX

Tulsa Sleeveless Top in Pepper Grid – Was £74 Now £50

I’ve put it with leather leggings and bright pointy pumps for a simple, edgy look that could take you just about anywhere. This is a very strong contender for the illustrious title of Xmas Day outfit! IMG_1094

The sale starts online on Christmas Day and online shoppers should sign up to the newsletter now to receive an exclusive, limited time discount tomorrow morning, so make sure you check your inbox bright and early! If you happen to be in the St Albans vicinity, the sale starts in store on Saturday 27 December and the first 20 customers through the door will receive a bonus 10% discount on all sale items! Hope you’re all feeling suitably festive – I’ll be back tomorrow to reveal what Santa brought me. I’ve been a very, very good girl this year!

Clearance Weekend at The Dressing Room!

It’s starting to cool down and new season stock is pouring onto the rails, but there’s still time to grab some final summer sale bargains over at the Dressing Room, who are offering an extra 20% off all sale stock until midnight on 26 August! There are still plenty of lovely bits to pick up at rock bottom prices – here’s what I’d be getting if I wasn’t on this accursed ban!

Equipment Brett Python Shirt - was £192, now £75

Equipment Brett Python Shirt – was £192, now £75

With the discount, this shirt comes in at £60 – for an Equipment shirt?! Snake print was all over the catwalk too, so this is a really savvy new season buy – someone snap it up before I do!!

J Brand 1214 Aidan Slouchy Boyfriend Jean - was £269, now £99

J Brand 1214 Aidan Slouchy Boyfriend Jean – was £269, now £99

Boyfriend jeans are going nowhere fast – I’ll be updating mine for the new season with a fitted sweater and ankle boots. This J Brand Aidan style is very popular, so bag them at a discount!

Mercy Delta Zebra Wool & Silk Mix Scarf - was £150, now £55

Mercy Delta Zebra Wool & Silk Mix Scarf – was £150, now £55

How deliciously autumnal do the berry tones in this Mercy Delta scarf look right now? If you’ve never had the pleasure of stroking one of these scarfs, let me tell you they are so baby soft. This would brighten up my boring classic black coat a treat!

Day Birger et Mikkelsen Acqua Top - was £150, now £75

Day Birger et Mikkelsen
Acqua Top – was £150, now £75

This top has got ‘Christmas night out’ written all over it! I think this beautiful silk top paired with leather leggings and a tuxedo jacket would make a sharp, contemporary alternative to a more convential ‘party dress’.

Bobi Blazer - was £75, now £32

Bobi Blazer – was £75, now £32

I’ve long extolled the virtues of a jersey blazer as a sharper alternative to a cardigan, and this ruby-red Bobi version would be great for A/W. Red has been everywhere at the press days I’ve attended, so this is a great buy – would look fab over a breton top and bootcuts, with a long chunky scarf wrapped round your neck.

H By Hudson Coachella Boot - was £150, now £60

H By Hudson Coachella Boot – was £150, now £60

I’ve liked these boots for aaaages, and at £48 with the discount these are a steal! I’d put them with vintage wash skinnies and a grey marl sweatshirt. Argh, so much tempatation!

Paige Denim Verdugo Super Skinny Jean - was £195, now £99

Paige Denim Verdugo Super Skinny Jean – was £195, now £99

A good pair of black skinnies can be hard to find, in my experience, but I love the fit of the Paige Verdugos, so I think this pair would be a great investment, especially for £80!

Just Ballerinas Glitter Platino Pumps - was £79, now £45

Just Ballerinas Glitter Platino Pumps – was £79, now £45

You know by now that I just love slipper flats, but they can be a little tricky to style for the evening. This pair have that nailed by virtue of being glittery and gold! Skinnies are the obvious choice for these, but I actually think they look really cute with opaques and a short skirt.

So, those are a few pieces I think are great, but there are so many more I could have featured so do check out the sale section, and don’t forget to use code CLEAR20 to get your extra 20% off! So, what will you be bagging in The Dressing Room’s clearance? Do let me know in the usual way!

DISCLAIMER: This is not a sponsored post – I just really like these guys.

Sale time at The Dressing Room!

So, if you’ve been following my blog/have eyes you’ll have noticed that the summer sales are on. Yay, right? And tomorrow The Dressing Room, one of my very favourite stores, start theirs. Double yay. Being lovely friends of Twentymumthing, they gave me a sneaky preview and sent over a few sale items for me to have a play with. And play I did.

As it is, supposedly, the summer, I thought I’d style up a few summery looks using the bits I received. It wasn’t hard, they’re lovely.

First up is this bold Great Plains tunic.

Il De Re V Neck Tunic Top - Tutti Frutti, was £45, now £22

Il De Re V Neck Tunic Top – Tutti Frutti, was £45, now £22

This little number is a great mutli tasker on holiday; you could pull it on over a bikini for poolside lounging, wear with flip flops and a sunhat for sightseeing, or, as I’ve done here, style it with heels for high-octane glamour. I love the 70s shape of it, and the bold print will show off a tan a treat!

This Hale Bob blouse is just so pretty. The very subtle zebra print, beautiful colours and detailed embellishment make it the perfect top for a Riviera jaunt.

Zebra Silk Beaded Print Tunic - Blue, was £210, now £125

I have paired it with white jeans and jewelled sandals for the full St Tropez effect, but actually I think it would work just as well dressed down with denim cut offs! I love the fact that it comes with a matching cami, saves angsting about visible bra issues!

However, for all my mithering about holidays, a lot of us will be staycationing this year (myself included if I don’t get on and book something) and this Day Birger Et Mikkelsen top is ideal for the British climate.

DayBirgerMarineteeGrey1

Marine Tee – Grey Melange, was £75, now £49

I’ve put this look together with the British seaside in mind – on a recent trip to Brighton the weather was, by turns, baking, overcast and blustery. The shorts allow my legs to see a bit of sun (Lord knows they need it) and the scarf provides both a flash of colour and a bit of warmth. But then, I don’t really need to tell you how to style this top, do I? Chic stripes and neutral shades style themselves! It’s a great weight and hangs beautifully – no under bra bulges with this little beaut (I do a lot of bra-related angsting don’t I?)

The summer barbecue can become a style quagmire for even the most accomplished fashionista. You’ve got to factor in potentially inclement weather, the need for comfort post burger-binge and the distinct possibility you might fall over after one-too-many glasses of rose. It’s a minefield, I’m telling you. But I think I might just have solved it with my final look, based around these uber-flattering Hudson jeans.

Signature Bootcut - Cannes, were £230, now £169

Signature Bootcut – Cannes, were £230, now £169

There be gold in them there jeans… Leg-lengthening, bum-hoisting, hip-narrowing, they do it all, my only gripe is that they are, as usual, about a foot too long for me, but that is premium denim as standard, and nothing my dry cleaner and her sewing machine can’t fix. Back to the BBQ; a chunky wooden sandal or wedge heel eliminates the risk of sinking into the lawn, while a luxe, yet loose, linen tee leaves room to pack in those questionable sausages. A chunky watch finishes the look. You’ll be a beacon of chic in a sea of maxi dresses and cropped cardigans.

20130627-215801.jpg

Easy peasy this summer dressing, really, isn’t it?* And it’s even easier at a discount! All these items and many, many more can be found here when the sale goes live tomorrow, or, if you’re in the St Albans vicinity, why not pop in for a browse? The lovely team will be only too happy to help you out. Rest assured I’ll be flying the flag for British consumerism, as always! Happy shopping – and don’t forget to share your purchases with me!**

*Grubby bandage optional
**Figuratively, not literally, though I wouldn’t mind that either.
