C150 – an apology

I know I’ve been beyond crap at posting my daily outfits. I sound like a broken record, but I have been so busy with work it has all fallen by the wayside a bit.

But I’m getting back on the wagon and starting afresh. I haven’t taken a photo every day over my week long blogging hiatus, but I haven’t repeated an outfit. You’ll just have to trust me on that. Here are a few photos from the last few days:

Day 34

Sweatshirt – James Perse
Jeans – J Brand
Shoes – Bloch via TK Maxx

I’m not usually a wearer of pale pink, but I’m reliably informed that it is the colour to be seen in this A/W. I can’t commit to a saccharine sweet cocoon coat, so my concession to the trend is to dig out these Blochs I’ve had for a couple of years but rarely wear. It actually makes a nice accent colour for grey and navy.

Day 35

Jumper – Gap
T – Shirt – Gap
Jeans – Uniqlo
Loafers – Topshop

One of the best things about doing this challenge is rediscovering forgotten favourites. I don’t know about you, but I tend to wear my new items on repeat until the next flavour of the month comes along. I’ve had these jeans for longer than I’ve been with my husband, and I still really like them!

Day 39

Jumper – Rag & Bone
Jeans – Gap
Boots – New Look

This outfit is composed entirely of ‘mistakes’. The jumper is £145 worth of viscose nightmare, it creases easily and snags on everything – not the great buy I had hoped it would be. The jeans are Gap sexy boyfriend and are just a size too big really so are rarely worn. The boots are fine, but tan really isn’t my colour. All together they don’t look too bad, but this look won’t make it into my C150 hall of fame!

Day 40

Top – Topshop
Jeans – Goldsign
Shoes – Topshop

I wasn’t sure about these ‘cold-shoulder’ style tops initially, but my husband really likes me to show off my shoulders so I thought I’d try one and it went down a storm. I don’t generally ‘dress to please my man’, but sometimes it’s nice to make an effort (especially when, like this, it basically takes no effort at all!)

Oh, and it’s Sunday, isn’t it? So I owe you a bag…20130901-194028.jpg
The Baylee is the newest bag from the Chloe stable which counts the Marcie, Paraty and Paddington among its success stories. I think they’ve scored another hit here too – how gorgeous does it look with this monochrome outfit!?

Sorry it’s taken me so long to catch up – I’ll be back with another outfit post tomorrow.

Clearance Weekend at The Dressing Room!

It’s starting to cool down and new season stock is pouring onto the rails, but there’s still time to grab some final summer sale bargains over at the Dressing Room, who are offering an extra 20% off all sale stock until midnight on 26 August! There are still plenty of lovely bits to pick up at rock bottom prices – here’s what I’d be getting if I wasn’t on this accursed ban!

Equipment Brett Python Shirt - was £192, now £75

Equipment Brett Python Shirt – was £192, now £75

With the discount, this shirt comes in at £60 – for an Equipment shirt?! Snake print was all over the catwalk too, so this is a really savvy new season buy – someone snap it up before I do!!

J Brand 1214 Aidan Slouchy Boyfriend Jean - was £269, now £99

J Brand 1214 Aidan Slouchy Boyfriend Jean – was £269, now £99

Boyfriend jeans are going nowhere fast – I’ll be updating mine for the new season with a fitted sweater and ankle boots. This J Brand Aidan style is very popular, so bag them at a discount!

Mercy Delta Zebra Wool & Silk Mix Scarf - was £150, now £55

Mercy Delta Zebra Wool & Silk Mix Scarf – was £150, now £55

How deliciously autumnal do the berry tones in this Mercy Delta scarf look right now? If you’ve never had the pleasure of stroking one of these scarfs, let me tell you they are so baby soft. This would brighten up my boring classic black coat a treat!

Day Birger et Mikkelsen Acqua Top - was £150, now £75

Day Birger et Mikkelsen
Acqua Top – was £150, now £75

This top has got ‘Christmas night out’ written all over it! I think this beautiful silk top paired with leather leggings and a tuxedo jacket would make a sharp, contemporary alternative to a more convential ‘party dress’.

Bobi Blazer - was £75, now £32

Bobi Blazer – was £75, now £32

I’ve long extolled the virtues of a jersey blazer as a sharper alternative to a cardigan, and this ruby-red Bobi version would be great for A/W. Red has been everywhere at the press days I’ve attended, so this is a great buy – would look fab over a breton top and bootcuts, with a long chunky scarf wrapped round your neck.

H By Hudson Coachella Boot - was £150, now £60

H By Hudson Coachella Boot – was £150, now £60

I’ve liked these boots for aaaages, and at £48 with the discount these are a steal! I’d put them with vintage wash skinnies and a grey marl sweatshirt. Argh, so much tempatation!

Paige Denim Verdugo Super Skinny Jean - was £195, now £99

Paige Denim Verdugo Super Skinny Jean – was £195, now £99

A good pair of black skinnies can be hard to find, in my experience, but I love the fit of the Paige Verdugos, so I think this pair would be a great investment, especially for £80!

Just Ballerinas Glitter Platino Pumps - was £79, now £45

Just Ballerinas Glitter Platino Pumps – was £79, now £45

You know by now that I just love slipper flats, but they can be a little tricky to style for the evening. This pair have that nailed by virtue of being glittery and gold! Skinnies are the obvious choice for these, but I actually think they look really cute with opaques and a short skirt.

So, those are a few pieces I think are great, but there are so many more I could have featured so do check out the sale section, and don’t forget to use code CLEAR20 to get your extra 20% off! So, what will you be bagging in The Dressing Room’s clearance? Do let me know in the usual way!

DISCLAIMER: This is not a sponsored post – I just really like these guys.

C150 – Day 22 – 27

Heartfelt apologies, dear readers, for my lack of commitment. I have had a crazy couple of weeks, but I think I’ve got my shit together now. We’ll see. Anyway, you don’t want to hear about all that bobbins, you want to know what I’ve been wearing!

Day 22

Top – DVF
Trousers – Gap
Shoes – Michael Kors

This top was a sample sale bargain and I just love it. I don’t wear it often enough really – must make more effort to give it the airing it deserves. The shoes are Michael Kors ‘Flex’ pumps and are just the comfiest ever. They pop up every season in different colours and frequently appear on the Outnet at great prices – highly recommend them!

Day 23

Shirt – Equipment
Skirt – Gerard Darel
Shoes – Boden

You remember the saga of this shirt, don’t you? Well worth a very painful trip to acquire it with my newly operated on hand (you can expect the return of the grubby bandage soon as it needs redoing), as it makes me smile every time I catch sight of it!

Day 24

Dress – LK Bennett
Shoes – Vince Camuto

A rare glimpse of business-appropriate Amber here – I very rarely do the ‘corporate’ thing, but I had a meeting where I needed to make an impact today, so it was required. I spent the whole day feeling like I was playing dress up, but the meeting had exactly the desired outcome, so it was worth it!

Day 25

Scarf – Becksondergaard
T-shirt – Uniqlo
Jeans – Goldsign
Boots – Ash
Watch – Olivia Burton

The eagle eyed amongst you will notice a couple of new acquisitions here! More on those in a separate post, but I promise I haven’t broken the terms of my ban.

Day 26

T-shirt – Gap
Jeans – Goldsign
Boots – Ash
Watch – Olivia Burton

Variations on a theme here – I’ve fallen back in love with my Ash Jalouse during the slightly cooler weather. They are so comfy and have that casual-cool thing going on. Another highly recommended footwear purchase if you’re in the market.

Day 27

Shirt – Uniqlo
Jeans – J Brand
Boots – Boden
Watch – Olivia Burton

This was probably my favourite outfit of the week. I love a flannel shirt and this monochrome check one looks fab with my precious pink boots!

Back later with today’s outfit, and that handbag post I owe you…

C150 – Day 18 – 21

Oops, I’m lagging a bit aren’t I? Let’s play catch up!

Day 18
20130813-201952.jpgThis Boden pocket Breton has had so much wear since I bought it – it goes with everything! I love it with my leopard loafers, spots and stripes are among my favourite pattern clashes!

Top – Boden
Jeans – Topshop Jamies
Shoes – Jimmy Choo

Day 19
20130813-202009.jpgI’m not sure my J Brand Earhart trousers are the most flattering in my wardrobe, but when you’ve known comfort like it you cannot turn your back. I wore this for a hungover trip to the dentist, so I needed cosseting!

Top – Uniqlo
Trousers – J Brand Earhart
Sandals – Sam Edelman

Day 20
20130813-202030.jpgI chanced upon these grey Goldsign Virtuals in the clearance section of the Harvey Nichols sale a couple of months back. I already have the mid blue and the indigo as you know from my repeated wears, so this was serendipity at play. I really like them with my bright pink boots!

T-Shirt – Mango
Jeans – Goldsign
Boots – Boden

Day 21
20130813-203812.jpgI wore this outfit for a trip to the zoo, hence the zebra shoes! I’m having a serious zebra love-in at the moment – had you noticed?

Top – James Perse
Jeans – Topshop Jamie
Shoes – Topshop
Scarf – Maje

C150 – Day 5

Happy weekend all! I’m in a buoyant mood as I’m off to have my hair cut later for the first time IN A YEAR. I know, terrible, isn’t it? So the next time you see me, I will have new hair, and possibly even a head.

Forgive the decapitation, I have a couple of really lovely hormonal chin spots at the moment, so I thought I’d spare you my gargoyle visage.

These shoes arrived yesterday (ordered before the inception of the ban, promise) and I really like them. Great colour and super comfy; not bad for under £30! I love orange, but it doesn’t love me back, which is try I have to limit it to accessories.

T-shirt – Gap
Jeans – J Brand
Shoes – Boden
Necklace – Next

What does a sweatshirt addict wear in warm weather?

Why, a short sleeved sweatshirt of course! I picked this Aubin & Wills number up in Selfridges in January. It was hugely reduced as, sadly, the brand were closing. I thought this was a real shame as they had some lovely designs, but as I understand it the parent company wanted to put all their focus into the younger arm of the brand, Jack Wills. Pity.

I’ve paired my sweatshirt with a pair of vintage wash J Brand 910s which are a size too big, so they work well as skinny boyfriends. On my feet I’m wearing my Jemima Vine Edie slippers which must be one of my best buys of the year. They look great with everything. A pair of neon pink Kate Spade earrings finish the look.

Not the most inventive outfit I’ve ever put on, but comfortable and stylish enough for Saturday mooching, don’t you think?
