Flat Out

I’ve been neglecting this blog of late – life has been a bit hectic, but never fear I’ll be back soon with my quest for a holiday wardrobe.

Anyway, I had a request from a lovely lady to show how I wear my Boden silver pointy flats with a pencil skirt, so here I am doing just that.

Outfit:

Top – Whistles
Skirt – Jaeger
Shoes – Boden
Necklace – Next

I’ve gone for a classic stripes and lace combo here, keeping the palette monochrome with just a hint of colour in the necklace to let the shoes stand out.

I know a lot of people think the shoe natural partner for a pencil skirt is a heel but I think, especially in the case of a tighter tube style skirt, the flats help to tone the look down and stop a tight skirt from being overtly sexy (not always business appropriate, depending on your profession).

What do you think – pencil skirts and flats, hit or miss?

C150 – Day 10

It is SO hot in London (as I write this I am sitting on a packed commuter train with zero air-con, I may die before I finish the post), so I wanted to keep my outfit simple and fuss free. I’ve opted for my Whistles tube skirt, with a light, sheer batwing top by Bella Luxx, a brand I discovered in TK Maxx. My new favourite shoes add the pop of colour **wanky fashion speak alarm**. All in all, I quite like it!

Working for a living

So after swearing blind I was going to be better at blogging this week, I’ve been a bit crap really, haven’t I? Work has been mental and I really haven’t had a minute. Anyway, here a a couple of snaps of what I’ve been wearing:

Today, I didn’t even have time for a proper outfit shot – all you get is a quick Instagram from my desk:

But as you can probably tell I’m wearing the George skirt I bleated on about for so long. And does it live up to the promise? You betcha! Good thick fabric for smoothing out the old lumps and bumps and a great length. It is cut for a curvy figure I’d say, a teensy bit roomy on the hips but not so as you’d notice, a good fit on the waist though, so I don’t think I’d have got away with an 8. I’m wearing it with my beloved Jemima Vine python flats and pretending I’m in the jungle!

No work tomorrow though, yippee! And I’ve got an exciting blog post lined up for the weekend! And an Outnet order arriving! AND it’s Eurovision! Life isn’t so bad after all…

Wednesday Want

Apologies for radio silence, the household was struck by a hideous sickness bug and between looking after various members of my family and being afflicted myself, blogging has fallen by the wayside!

I’m still feeling (and looking) pretty ropey, so there’ll be no outfit post today, but it’ll take more than Norovirus to stop me mentally spending money. This week, I’m all about the printed pencil skirt. Here are my two favourites:
20130508-191403.jpgThis Whistles beauty is so bright and zingy; I’d probably go the whole hog and wear it with my neon yellow fitted shirt to really inject some colour into the office.

A more sedate (and thrifty) option would be this fabulous palm print skirt from George at Asda:

20130508-191100.jpgI raved about it after seeing it at the preview day, and it has finally hit the website. This gorgeous print would look so fresh with a white t-shirt. And for £12? It would be rude not to…

Collar me Beautiful

Oh, low-quality, poorly lit mirror shots, how I’ve missed thee.

20130430-132444.jpgI have been looking for a really great statement necklace for aaaages now, but the usual high street subjects couldn’t come up with the goods and the likes of Mawi and Lamprini were a bit over budget, so I turned to Etsy.

This Mimic Design collar leapt out at me, so I ordered it for around £20, and I am just so thrilled with it! It is exactly what I was looking for! I’m off out tonight, so I’m planning to swap the skirt for boyfriend jeans and show off my new neckwear. You can look forward to the hangover shot tomorrow!

Working It

Now, I know you’ve all been wondering what has happened to the low-quality ‘view from the loo’ mirror shots. Well, fear not, they’re baaack! I’ve been taking them, but had no time to upload as I’ve been like, doing my job and shiz. I know.

Anyway, here’s what I’ve been wearing the past couple of days:

I’ve got a couple of exciting posts coming up over the weekend and next week, so check in for those, plus I’m off on hols next week, so I’ll be attempting a capsule, UK-weather-appropriate holiday wardrobe post too. I bet you can’t wait!

Right, Mr TMT is out and there’s prosecco in the fridge needing drinking and shite on the TV needing watching… Over and out!

It’s chino time!

I just had to wear my beautiful Jemima Vine python slippers again today. They were designed with city workers in mind and for me they are a welcome and stylish alternative to black ballerinas. I’m loving them so much I’m already considering these neon beauties:

The weather might have taken a turn for the worse but I’m forging on regardless, wearing my snake-print lovelies with rolled up navy chinos and a striped t-shirt. The chinos are last year’s from Uniqlo, and one of the best things was being able to have them altered in store, for free! As the owner of a pair of less than statuesque legs, this is a mightily useful service which I regularly take advantage of!

I’ve added a bright green belt to keep the neutral tones from looking too flat. This belt is currently on sale for £9.99 in store, though this doesn’t show on the website, and the laser cut holes make it fully adjustable.
